This guide outlines every requirement you must meet to make your OAC application as simple and successful as possible.
OWNERSHIP
To qualify for a YouTube OAC, you must demonstrate that you own the channel you are applying with. Before submitting your application, ensure the following:
You have at least one approved release distributed through Releese that appears on a unique Topic Channel on YouTube.
The URL you provide for your Owned & Operated (O&O) channel is accurate and valid.
TOPIC CHANNEL
You must have a Topic Channel that is specific to your artist.
At least one release must exist on a Topic Channel dedicated to your artist and distributed via Releese. Selecting YouTube Music when creating your release will automatically place your music on a Topic Channel.
Your Topic Channel cannot be labeled “Release – Topic.” If it is, contact support for assistance.
APPEARANCE
Your O&O channel description must include links to your artist’s social media profiles, such as Instagram or Facebook. Each link must be listed individually. Link-in-bio tools (for example, Linktree) are not accepted.
CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
You must own and manage a YouTube channel that meets the following criteria before applying:
Your channel must contain videos that are uploaded regularly.
You must have at least one art track distributed through Releese.
Your channel must include full-length videos. Channels that only contain Shorts will not be approved.
The channel must be primarily focused on music and should not feature unrelated content like gaming.
Your O&O channel and Topic Channel must feature matching content. For example, your O&O channel should include a music video (such as a visualizer) that corresponds to an art track on your Topic Channel.
Your channel and its videos must be at least 30 days old.
Your O&O channel cannot consist solely of still-image videos.
Your channel must not host content from other artists. This includes multi-artist channels, label or compilation channels, remixes or mashups, cover-focused channels, or other non-original content.
Your channel must not contain content designed to manipulate the algorithm, including misleading or generic material.
